Dhoni's top spot in ICC ODI ranking under threat

India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's numero uno status in ICC ODI batsmen's ranking is under threat as few good knocks from West Indies captain Chris Gayle or his teammate Shivnarine Chanderpaul in the upcoming England series may topple him from the top spot.

Dhoni is currently the only batsman above the 800-point mark but Gayle is not too far behind as he trails the Indian by 33 points, while Chanderpaul is another four points behind which means the order could potentially change with a couple of strong performances by the two West Indian cricketers.

However, failure of the pair would directly benefit the fourth-placed Yuvraj Singh of India and Australia's Michael Hussey in fifth position who are waiting to pounce on any opportunity that comes their way.

Master batsman Sachin Tendulkar is 13th while team-mate Virender Sehwag (7th) and Gautam Gambhir (17th) are the other Indians in the top 20.

Left-arm paceman Zaheer Khan continues to be the only Indian in the top-20 bowlers' list, headed by Sri Lankan Nuwan Kulasekara.

Among all-rounders, Yuvraj Singh remains to be the only Indian with Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan leading the list.

In the team championships, India is third behind Australia and table toppers South Africa.

Big B: a matter of faith

Amitabh Bachchan, the epitome of good culture, is one of the most secular Bollywood superstars.

He never talks about his faith because he believes that it is a very private subject; and yet when people in the Hindi film industry observe him closely, they can’t help but speak about the subject.

When Bachchan with wife Jaya, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya made a quiet entry at the prayer meeting organised by Fardeen Khan and sister Laila for their father Feroz Khan, the recital of the Holy Quran was on. The room was already full with the exception of a few chairs at the back, but Raj Kumar Tiwari, Fardeen’s business manager, invited the Bachchans upfront where additional chairs sprang up when the celebrity mourners arrived.

But as a mark of respect to the Holy Quran, Bachchan refused to walk further into the room. Said Tiwari, “Instead, he chose to remain at the back.” As a result, Bachchan had to stand in queue for 45 minutes to meet Fardeen, Laila and their mother and convey his condolences.

Zayed Khan tried his best to get Bachchan to break the line and come forward, but the Big B flatly refused. “Sanjay Khan, Zayed and Fardeen are greatly indebted to Amitji and his family for not only attending the prayer meeting, but giving Feroz saab, the entire Khan family and their faith such great respect,” said a family member on behalf of the Khan khandaan.

Isn’t it said that in life, the line actually begins where great men stand; in this case Big B showed the way.

Arjun to pool in for KKR

Their friendship in no secret, and Arjun Rampal would have it no other way. Even though SRK’s IPL team aren’t the best performers, Arjun’s loyalty to his friend and the team won’t shift.

When asked if he would ever have his own cricket team, he says that if one day King Khan decides to sell a stake of the team, he will make sure to buy it.

While you and I might raise our eyebrows in question, Rampal insists he likes the team.

Sonal and John together

She made her debut in Jannat, and now the pretty Sonal Chauhan is all set to star opposite heartthrob John Abraham in her next film.

The actress has signed up for a film to be directed by Tony D’souza, who is currently working on Blue. The actress turned down a number of films before accepting M F Husian’s son Owais Husain’s film. The actress reportedly suffered a burn on the sets.

Sonal Chauhan is John Abraham's Girl

Tony D'Souza, who has worked with Katrina Kaif, Lara Dutta and Kylie Minogue in his much-discussed Blue, has zeroed in on Sonal Chauhan to play the lead role opposite John Abraham in his next film, which will be an action-adventure drama.

"Yes, we've met and I'm doing Tony's film," said the Jannat girl Sonal Chauhan, who herself approached Tony when she came to know about his film.

Sonal rejected a number of projects including the Bhatts' Jashan and finally surfaced in Punjab for shooting MF Husain's son Owais Husain's film where she suffered a burn injury.

Speaking from Chandigarh, she said: "It could've been much worse. There I was on a crane, heading towards the sky when these two floodlights came close to my face. No one had any idea how warm the lights were. By the time I was brought down the damage had already been done. I was singed and in pain."

"You know more care is taken during these backwater outstation shootings. I'm now well on the way to recovery. And I love Chandigarh. I don't want to leave this place although our schedule is nearly over," she said.

"The moment I heard Owais' project I knew this was what I wanted to do. I didn't care how commercial it sounded. It just sounded right for me. I've always done what I instinctively felt to be right," Sonal added.

About turning down the Bhatts after they gave her a break in Jannat, Sonal said: "I wouldn't say I turned them down. It was just not what I wanted to do at that time. Now I hear Mahesh Bhatt saab himself has directed Jashan. So it must have turned out really special."

Now the latest controversy in Sonal's career is a fake website that someone launched, apparently pretending to be her.

"When I heard about it I couldn't let it go because I was launching my own website. I put my lawyers on to the imposter. We tracked the culprit down and brought him to book. I think it's very important for known people in our entertainment industry to stand up against cyber crimes. We take them too casually and encourage hackers and imposters," said Sonal, who completed a Kannada film after Jannat.

Rajini, Aishwarya get stylish for Endhiran

Talking about costumes, Hollywood fashion designer Mary Vay and Bollywood’s favourite Manish Malhotra have designed costumes for Rajni and Aishwarya. When asked about his experience of designing for Endhiran, Manish Malhotra said, “Designing for Endhiran has been fun as it has a multi-dimensional look to it.”

Rajnikanth and Shankar also roped in Sai to design costumes for Endhiran. Sai made the silver coloured robot costumes. The Superstar Rajni was happy shooting in the costume which was made of natural leather, sprayed with metallic silver paint with Lycra lining to make it comfortable.

Hollywood makeup artists have worked on Rajni’s look for the magnum opus. Though the Endhiran poster doesn’t look much impressive with Rajnikanth given a look of the Joker's facial makeup from Hollywood film, Dark Knight sporting a Nazi hat, the movie stills tell a different story.

According to the plot of the movie, the Robot (Endhiran) falls in love with Aishwarya’s character. And with that we are sure to see some great chemistry between the two mega stars, Rajni and Aishwarya.
